Les Deux Alpes
Les Deux Alpes is one of the few resorts in Europe that can boast all-year round skiing on its Mont de Lans Glacier – at 3600m, Europe’s highest and largest skiable glacier.
Aside from the glacier the resort has an incredible range of terrain for skiers and boarders of all levels, with the large majority of the skiing well over 2100m. This sunny resort is renowned for having one of the best-conditioned snow parks in France, with great kickers, boarder cross and an awesome half pipe. The 2 Alpes lift-pass now also includes access to La Grave, which has a well-deserved reputation for being an off-piste haven; even the most demanding advanced skiers and boarders will be entertained for a week on these powder fields. You can also go all the way into La Fée for some hardcore blacks – though not for the feint-hearted – and plenty of lovely reds and blues for the intermediates. Even beginners can enjoy the incredible mountain scenery as there are great gentle blues on the glacier itself, so you’re not restricted to nursery slopes.
Only one word of warning, because the village itself is based at 1650m, skiing right into the village in early or very late season can be tricky and really depends on the snow, but there are plenty of lifts if not.
The village also has a fantastic atmosphere for soaking up the sun for après ski and is filled with shopping-centres, lively bars, restaurants and clubs for people of all tastes. We offer a range of 2 and 3 star apartments throughout the village. Unlike most other resorts the actual village itself is relatively large, so depending on where you stay, it could either be 2 or 20 minute walk to the lifts and the village’s amenities. There are shuttle buses of course too, but these aren’t always the most reliable – so be sure to choose the accommodation according to your priorities.
