Tignes may not be as picturesque as its neighbour Val d’Isere, but it is still considered the destination of choice for many of our more experienced riders, given its incredible terrain and the ease of access to the slopes from this purpose-built resort.

Nowhere else in Europe do you get such a wide combination of pistes and back-country such a short distance from your doorstep. Within 15 minutes of leaving your apartment, thanks to the completely modernised lift network, you can be at the top of the Grande Motte Glacier, at the ‘eye of the needle’ above Tignes Le Lac, or on the World Cup run into Val d’Isere. The altitude of the resort also plays in its favour, since, like Val d’Isere, it offers a micro-climate and therefore one of the best snow records in the Alpes – pretty much guaranteeing great snow at any time of the season.

The Espace Killy ski area includes Le Fornet, Val d’Isere and Tignes, altogether boasting over 300kms of pistes, 2 snow parks and 2 glaciers. It’s great for all levels of skiers: with couloirs, black runs and great mogul fields for the experts, intermediates are spoilt for choice with long sweepy blues and reds, and there are also a few good nursery slopes if you’re just beginning. Val d’Isere can also keep all standards of boarders entertained with some of the best kept parks in the Alps, not to mention incredible off-piste possibilities. Although not as large as the 3 Valleys, the Espace Killy is more than a match for it in terms of quality of terrain.

Val Claret is the highest of the Tignes villages at 2100m. It’s compact, so you’ll find everything you need at no more than a couple of minutes walk from your accommodation regardless of where you are. There are a number of great bars and restaurants and a unique atmosphere around the village.  Given Tignes’ shortness of space you’ll find the accommodation tends to be pretty compact too – but this is the trade off for having this fantastic terrain on your doorstep!

Be sure to use the great little networks of public buses for getting around resort too. All of the accommodation we offer is either 2 or 3 starred and has doorstep skiing. For those that have a little more to spend we can offer the 4 star MGM Ecrin des Neiges. Note that the Tourist Information Centres offers showers and big luggage lockers if you’re making your own way there need somewhere to leave stuff while you get back out on the mountain.

Thanks to its location in the heart of the Espace Killy, and its exceptional levels of snow, Tignes offers a thousand and one ways for you to enjoy the mountains. The residence is located less than 200 m from the lively centre of Tignes-Val Claret.

The Odalys Residence Val Claret, close to the funicular railway that takes you to the Grande Motte glacier in a matter of minutes, is located between 100m and 500m from the shops, ski lifts and ski school.

The residence L’Ecrin des Neiges stands high in the Val Claret district. It is built in the traditional local style, combining wood and traditionally worked stone, and located very close to the slopes, shops and nightlife.

The Grand Motte apartments are located in the heart of Val Claret, with the lifts and ski school only 2 minutes away.

Rond Point des Pistes is located in the highest part of the Val Claret area, at an altitude of 2300m. This puts this newly refurbished residence in an ideal position near the Funicular, which means you can be at the Grande Motte Glacier in just a few minutes.

Restaurants, Bars & Clubs

The two night clubs in Val Claret could not be more different to each other! Blue Girl is an eclectic mix of disco lights, stages and cages across many split levels. Empty during the day it all looks bizarre, come the evening the venue comes alive as people let loose.

A cosy venue with a typically alpine feel to it, Couloir is a gorgeous place to go for an evening meal or drinks in a small group.

Chill in a booth or enjoy the pool tables and fusball. Popular for sport and live bands, great music and great staff make this a great choice in Tignes.

This is the original and the best après venue in the French alpes.Located on the mountin between Val d'Isère and Tignes it is an absolute must.

This little café has recently been refurbished and serves up some great food – especially the lunchtime burgers – an absolute must!

The best après venue on the Tignes side of the mountain, Loop is found at the bottom of the Trolles Slope in Tignes Le Lac. With a huge terrace facing the sun, the party kicks off here most days throughout the season.

Like the name suggests, this nightclub gets hot! But this is mainly due to the amazing atmosphere they create in here night after night. Very good resident DJ’s, energetic bar staff and a stage alongside the dance floor all lead to a long nights dancing each time you visit.

Great deals on drinks and at happy hour they get even better. A big bar with plenty going on, Saloon has sister bars in both Val D'Isere and Val Thorens.

Found the neighbouring Tignes village of Le Lac, the Marmot Arms is the best place for burgers in Tignes. A fabulously cosy and friendly pub to drop into for lunch or after skiing, and the food is a good treat on a cold day.
